DO I NEED A DOCTOR'S REFERRAL TO SEE A PHYSIOTHERAPIST?
No. All registered Physiotherapists are primary care practitioners and are therefore qualified to assess and treat any individual without a referral from a physician. The Physiotherapist may then refer the client to a physician if they feel a medical opinion is required. Physiotherapists at the Nour Health Clinic routinely communicate with clients' doctors on a regular basis to ensure the highest quality of care for each person.
The only time a doctor’s referral may be required is if your insurance provider requests one.
I HAVE A REFERRAL FROM MY DOCTOR FOR ANOTHER PHYSIOTHERPAY CLINIC BUT I WOULD RATHER COME TO YOUR CLINIC. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Is chiropractic treatment similar to physiotherapy treatment?
Based on my discussions with practitioners and patients who have received both treatments, it appears as if treatments can often be quite similar within both clinical environments.
Does the WSIB (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board) cover chiropractic services?

Do I need a referral from an MD in order to see a chiropractor?
Chiropractic is a primary-contact health care profession. Chiropractors along with medical doctors, dentists, psychologists, and optometrists have the legislated right and obligation to communicate a diagnosis and to use the title doctor. If a chiropractor diagnoses a problem which would be better treated by another health-care professional, he or she will make an appropriate referral.
Are massage treatments better with heavy or light pressure?
Certain massage approaches are more effective than others depending on the specific conditions being treated. Very often a client will request heavy and deep pressure when usually the problem presented is more superficial. It is the top or outer layers of muscle that are adhesed and require treatment. Once they've been addressed, the underlying layer is easier to reach.
Is massage therapy covered under OHIP?
Massage therapy is governed under the RHPA but unfortunately OHIP doesn't pay for massage treatments. Most extended health care plans will cover treatments.
